A parliamentarian response to the land rush in Africa

Parliamentarians from the member states of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) met in November to debate the role of African politicians in tackling issues of land ownership, food sovereignty and the scale and impact of recent Foreign Direct Investment (FDIs) in Central African land and water. The two day conference was organized by AWEPA, the Pan African Parliament, and the International Institute on Sustainable Development (IISD). Hon. Wolfgang Pirklhuber from the Austrian AWEPA Section participated in his role as Senior Parliamentary Advisor on MDGs.
