As part of the cooperation between AWEPA and the Netherlands Institute for Multi-Party Democracy (NIMD), a Strategic Consultation was organized, in Dar es Salaam on 23 October 2012, toward the empowerment of Tanzania’s key institutions related to women’s political participation.

The main partners in this endeavor were: the Tanzania Women’s Parliamentary Group (TWPG), the Tanzania Women’s Cross-Party Platform (TWCP), and the Tanzania Parliamentary AIDS Coalition (TAPAC). The consultation was chaired by Hon. Anna Abdallah, MP, Chair of the TWPG, and was attended by Members of Parliament, political party representatives, international donors, local organizations, such as the Tanzania Centre for Democracy (TCD), and media. Also present at the consultation were Mr. Jerome Scheltens, representing NIMD, and Dr. Jeff Balch, the AWEPA Director of Research and Evaluation.
